According to Oprah.com,white tea is made premature leaves the polyphenols that are present during harvesting are present when consumed

Additional Health Benefits

  • Polyphenols are potent antioxidants which prevent the development of cancerous cells. Because white tea leaves are steamed, the polyphenols that are present during harvesting are present when consumed. Drinking white tea also preserves dental health as it prevents plaque buildup. Furthermore, due to its light hue, white tea won't stain your teeth like darker teas and coffees.

White Tea vs. Green Tea

  • Green tea is famous for its weight-loss benefits. Though white tea isn't widely recognized in this manner, the Chinese have used it for centuries to maintain healthy weights. According to Oprah.com, "tea is from the same plant as green tea, but it's produced in a different way." Like most teas, green tea is made from mature leaves that are withered in order to produce a dark hue and pungent taste when steeped. However, white tea is made premature leaves that have been steamed, rather than withered, to retain their moisture.
